#1 - Introduction

Hi Everyone! I'm Leah and I am 22 years old. I SHOULD be a senior in college, but my lack of career planning and indecisiveness has led me to be the equivalent of a sophomore. I am from Evansville, Indiana and have lived here for all but one college semester of my life. I went to Indiana University right out of high school, but came straight back to my home town. Although it doesn't have anything to do with career planning, everyone who knows me knows that I am a die hard New York Yankees fan!
I'll be completely honest with you, I'm only taking Career Planning because I needed one more credit hour to keep me a full time student so that I could still be eligible for my student loans. My advisor strongly recommended it though and said even though I already know what I want to do it  couldn't possibly hurt to take this class. I have changed my major from Business to Education and have finally settled on Nursing. I am actually going to be going to Henderson Community College for their Nursing Program in the Fall of 2013 and this is my last semester at USI.
I am currently employed at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville in the Surgical Trauma Cardiovascular ICU. My boss has actually encouraged me to go to Henderson to get my Associates Degree in Nursing and then go back for my RN to BSN. I plan to have my BSN in no more than three years and once that is done I will be able to be a Registered Nurse on the unit I work on instead of a Patient Care Tech. It is very important to me that the career I have chosen has jobs readily available and starts at a wage that I can live off of. I am extremely passionate about what I do and cannot wait to have the licensure to be able to practice what I love.
